Robbie Chesick (MA, MC, RCC) is a registered clinical counsellor, level II sensorimotor psychotherapist, and certified meditation instructor. She sees clients –adults and youth 14 plus—at her office in Kitsilano.
When looking for a counsellor, its normal to feel daunted by the search for someone who will feel like a good fit. This is a right kind of concern, because it is important to have a good rapport with your therapist in order to get the results you deserve. Thankfully, I have found that most people begin to feel at ease once they make their choice and begin the counselling process.
If you are exploring this website, likely you are having problems that are overwhelming your rightful sense of wellbeing. Your struggles could show up as stress, anxiety, depression, as well as relationship problems. You may be triggered to anger, or to self-doubt and worry. If your troubles stem from past trauma, you might also suffer from nightmares and flashbacks. Some people engage in behaviours that provide short-term gain but bring longer-term suffering, such as addictions or self-harm.
Whatever your concern, you should expect to see a palpable difference in your life from counselling, including:
• Improved relationships and communication
• Better quality of life
• More positive thinking patterns
• Skills to manage emotional and stress overwhelm
• Replacement of destructive behaviors with constructive ones
• Better ability to make executive decisions
• Renewed interest and hope in life’s potential
I help adults and teens with a wide range of issues, with specialized training in trauma and addictions. I integrate a blend of modalities, including solutions-focused, and narrative approaches. Most of my clients enjoy and benefit from body-mind therapy (sensorimotor psychotherapy). Whatever approach best suits your needs, I value the art of non-judgemental listening and respect for the wisdom and resilience of clients at every turn.
For those who request it, I also offer instructional sessions in Nondual Meditation Technique. Nondual Mediation is a simple, awareness-based practice that includes mindfulness and other traditional meditation skills.
I founded Robbie Chesick Counselling to complement my work as a clinical counsellor in public practice at SHARE, where I worked with adults, youth, and groups. In this capacity, I have provided clinical supervision and structured training to graduate level interns in trauma and addictions, as well as trainings to community frontline service workers. I also teach professional development workshops for the Crisis and Trauma Resource Institute (CTRI).
Daily I experience the privilege of witnessing people recover their rightful sense of freedom and happiness. Because of this, I love the work I do. Please contact me if you have any further questions. If the fit seems right for you, I look forward to meeting and working with you.
