Practice information:
Hello and welcome. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and I have been working within the mental health field in Vancouver for over 7 years in various capacities. In my work, I draw upon my professional and personal experiences to enrich the process and be able to relate to what you might struggle with.
I have experience supporting individuals through a wide range of struggles including the following:
- Interpersonal and relationship issues
- Personal development
- Sexuality and gender identity
- Trauma and violence
- Immigration and adjustment
- Anxiety and depression
- Life transitions
- Grief and loss
- Kink, poly, non-monogamous or non-normative relationships
My approach to counselling is guided by strong feminist, anti-oppression valued, with recognition of how our early life experiences shape our present life. In other words my practice is informed by the premise that our affect and behavior are rooted in patterns that we internalize as children—the way we learned to relate to our primary caregivers and the society as a whole in childhood. Although all these internalized relationships may need to be reassessed and reframed to facilitate a more satisfying life, our initial sessions will be focused on addressing immediate concerns and creating the stability that is needed for securing long-term results.
My standard fee is $130 (including GST) for a full-hour session. Most extended insurance companies both from work or universities offer some coverage for counselling by RCC's (Registered Clinical Counsellors). To find out if you are covered contact you manager, insurance company or student services. If you need to cancel or re-schedule an appointment, please give me as much notice as you can. Minimum of 24 hours is required; in case of cancellation or change without sufficient notice, you get charged the regular session fees.
In recognition of systemic limitations to mental health coverage, there are limited number of reduced-fee sessions for folks who cannot afford professional counselling otherwise. I subsidize these sessions with full-paying clients to work towards a balance both in my practice and in my community. Please let me know when you are booking your first appointment if you are in financial need and seeking discount services. Please contact me to find out more about the sliding scale and waitlist.
If you are ready to address the barriers of becoming the most successful self, I’ll be honored to support you through your process. You can send me an email at nmoghadami [@] my . adler . edu,
