Mariah believes that people are able to make meaningful changes in their lives, and that counselling can be an experience that provides practical information as well as resource based options.
Mariah works with individuals of all ages. She provides skill training and proactive plans to her clients. She views challenges as opportunities for growth and deeper self-knowledge. She offers counselling that promotes resiliency and curiosity in oneself which results in a deeper and more satisfying connection with others. She has extensive training in narrative therapy, and is committed to working with her clients in a holistic manner.
She has a special interest in working with anxiety, body image issues and eating disorders – as well as with children and families who are in the process of divorce and separation. She assists in implementing child centred strategies for both parents and children during these times of challenge and transition.
Mariah also provides counselling support to people experiencing chronic health issues. Diagnosed with a chronic illness at the age of 9, Mariah took to studying and growing her area of expertise supporting people in coping with chronic health issues. Her practice aims to integrate living with a chronic illness in a healthy, balanced and compassionate way.
Mariah brings to the therapeutic relationship an open-minded, warm and energetic presence. She believes that people are unique and therefore that therapy must be structured to suit their unique needs. Mariah aims to draw from client’s strengths while offering new ways to cope with life challenges.
