I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I provide counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, children, youth, couples, parents and seniors on a wide range of mental health issues. I have over 25 years of experience working in the school system.
It is imperative to promptly address the mental health needs of children and youth to reach their full potential as adults. It can impact their academic and behavioural performance in school, which can affect their choices in the social arena later on in life. I serve children and youth struggling with a variety of issues such as addictions (video games/ social media), ADHD, anxiety, body image, depression, eating disorders, grief and loss, identity formation, Learning Disabilities, life challenges (e.g. parental divorce), self-esteem, stress management, and trauma.
Individuals of all ages and from all walks of life may need support from time to time. I support individual clients dealing with all sorts of issues from unresolved childhood trauma to relationship issues that may be manifesting as addictions, anxiety, body image and self-esteem, boundaries, breakdown of intimate relationships, depression, eating disorders, grief and loss, insomnia, intimate partner abuse, life transitions, parenting, personal development, social relationships, stress, trauma, women’s life cycle issues, and workplace performance etc.
It is beautiful to share your life with the ones you love. Love can be enough for the success of a relationship, but sometimes mental health of one or both people can impact the relationship adversely. Life sometimes presents its complexities in such a way that we need to slow down and pay attention. A therapist can help you sort out various aspects of the situation to achieve balance and prosperity in the relationship. I work with couples on communication, conflict resolution, grief and loss, infidelity, intimacy, love and connection, parenting, separation and divorce issues
Family is where we all start our lives. Most of us branch out and create families of our own. No family cluster is without complex dynamics. There are always different personalities, competing needs, various levels of competence, and a limited supply of resources to be navigated. Family structure is also fluid in the sense that it changes as members grow and evolve. The family functioning may be disrupted due to loss, grief, health issues, addiction, alcoholism, birth/adoption, financial setbacks, moving, etc. A counsellor can be an excellent resource to help navigate complex family dynamics. At A kind Universe, families or individual members of the family often come to address communication, conflict resolution, love and connection, parenting, inter-family conflict resolution, separation and divorce, stress management, relationship strengthening, and health issues affecting a family member.
Students often seek counselling for education and career counselling. As students, you may be at the fork road trying to decide which way to go, or you may be struggling to achieve your absolute best in the program that you are in. I can help you explore all options to help you make the best choices for your future.
I speak Punjabi and Hindi as well.
