Helping people navigate health challenges.
I offer online and in-person therapy to help you navigate the uncertainty of living with a health condition, adjust to life challenges related to illness, and better manage your health. Our work can include: comprehensive counselling & psychotherapy to help reduce your distress and cope with illness; health coaching to create sustainable health behaviour and lifestyle changes; and mind-body therapy to help you better manage symptoms and optimize your quality of life.
I draw on 20+ years of expertise as a therapist, educator, and researcher. Since 2003 I have worked as a therapist offering individual, family, and group counselling as well as mindfulness-based and yoga programs in community, research, and clinical settings. Prior to returning to fulltime clinical practice in British Columbia, I was a tenured Associate Professor of Health Behavior Science at the University of Delaware (2014-2022). In this role I served as: Academic Director of the UD Graduate programs in Health Coaching and as Research Director of the Mind Body Behavior Laboratory.
I hold a PhD in Health and Exercise Psychology and MSc in Counselling Psychology, both from the University of Calgary. I also completed my post-doctoral fellowship in Exercise Psychology at the University of Illinois and extensive training in Health Coaching while at the University of Delaware.
I have online availability for clients throughout BC and see people in-person by appointment at Three Cedars MD in Sidney, BC. Please see my website for more information and to book a free phone consultation. I look forward to hearing from you.
