Mary Clare Bovard, BScOT, Master of Counselling, RCC, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a private practice in North Vancouver. She provides counseling to individuals and couples who are facing concerns that are impacting their daily lives such as anxiety, depression, stress, low self esteem, life transitions, relationship issues, and grief & loss. She has a special interest in the area of caregiver stress and older adults.
Drawing upon her experience as an Occupational Therapist in mental health, stroke rehabilitation and geriatrics, she uses a practical approach that moves her clients forward. Mary Clare helps clients discover their inner strengths and resources, and provides them with the specific tools and skills needed to manage and deal with the concerns they are facing. Her clients will gain a better understanding of their challenges and where changes can be made. Her goal is to optimize client’s ability to function by developing healthy coping skills such as stress management, resiliency, self-care and compassion.
Along with her first career as an Occupational Therapist she has been married for over 30 years and is the mother of 3 adult children. Her graduate research focused on caregiver stress of adult children caring for aging parents. She has a lifelong interest in the mind body connection. As a result she brings a warm and practical approach that emphasizes the physical and the mental well being of her clients.
