Ms. Lynette Walker is a Registered Clinical Counsellor having served clients in the Lower Fraser Valley since 1983. Her office is now located in Nanaimo, B.C.
Human suffering takes many forms. Conflicts and breakdowns in relationships of all kinds are not uncommon. Life can be traumatic or at the very least, unsettling. Self esteem sometimes needs reshaping or recharging. Frustration, chronic anxiety and worry take their toll, often experienced as fatigue, lowered immunity to illness, and burnout. Fear, indecision, shame and guilt can be paralyzing. One's sense of purpose can disappear. One may feel out of control, or ill-fitted in a family or community, or that life has lost its meaning.
People everywhere are trying to make sense of their world and make sense of their place in it. Humans are often resilient and ingenious enough to meet their challenges and move on. Sometimes coping strategies fail. When will power and reason prove inadequate; I am here to help you find your way.
Your concerns, your feelings, and your struggles are important. Talking openly and freely about your difficulties will lighten your load. Our conversations will likely explore the background of your issue, maybe some personal history, and your attempts to deal with it. Who you are as a whole person is taken into account—your strengths and weaknesses, your health, your worldview. Together, in a confidential and non-judgmental environment, we can explore those matters that are important to you. You will benefit from an experienced senior counsellor / therapist who can help you find a fresh perspective and reset your compass.
From early childhood, I have been immersed in the psychological field of Carl Jung's Depth Psychology. Both parents were intensely involved in psychological work from mid-life until their deaths. This early exposure and on-going interest and personal investment benefited my growth and development immensely and prepared the way for professional counselling with individuals like you. I received my M.A degree from Vermont College, Norwich University in 1983 and have maintained a private practice since then. I have been a member (#189) of the B C Association of Clinical Counsellors since its inception.
I have lectured internationally and have published a ground breaking book, Mothering, Breast Cancer and Selfhood (Trafford Pub.) I have edited and produced The Serpent and the Cross, a deeply symbolic work of paintings and text by Katherine M. Sanford (available on-line). I am currently developing a book on the theme of Salome in History and 21st C. Life. As a mother and grandmother, I am grateful for the creative and fruitful lives of my adult children and their children.
