My journey with counselling was born from questioning established systems and expectations in relationships, like the boundaries between romantic, sexual, and platonic relationships. Just as no two friendships look the same, I believe romantic partnerships thrive when we allow them to grow and evolve organically, by revisiting old agreements and exploring new scripts, creating a unique arrangement that works for all parties involved. I strongly believe relationships act like mirrors, so when we identify our relationship dynamics, we can heal our relationship with ourselves.
I work with unpartnered, partnered, or multi-partnered individuals, couples, and others who struggle with relationships and are looking for a better understanding of themselves and their dynamics with others. Sometimes we feel lost because we don’t trust our own voice, or we feel stuck in patterns we keep repeating with different partners or friends. Together, we can identify your needs and boundaries and find strategies that help you thrive in your relationships.
When working with a couple or relationship system, I make sure everyone’s voice is heard and everyone’s needs are attended to. After having an understanding of your struggles, we can all engage in a negotiation process to take your relationship where you want it to be, and make sure you feel like a team again. I believe communication, honesty, and collaboration are the keys to successful relationships.
I've had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of populations, issues, and needs. My interest became focused on relationship and sexuality counselling. Thanks to this experience, and further professional training, I now assist individuals, couples, and other relationship systems by strengthening their bonds, understanding their needs and wants, and helping them express these assertively.
My work is mostly informed by attachment theory, which helps explain some of our behaviours which we don’t really understand. I also use intersectional feminism and queer theories with anti-oppressive and decolonizing intention. My practice is an integrative blend of emotionally-focused, cognitive-based, and somatic approaches that allow us to work holistically with your thoughts, emotions, and nervous system regulation to facilitate integrated healing. I also incorporate strategies and interventions from emotionally-focused therapy and Gottman’s method to enable better connections between you and your partner(s).
I offer sessions in either English, Spanish, or Catalan.
