I believe that families and the family systems we come from give us great insight into what we are up against in life. The families we grow up in are the first places we learn how relationships and people function. We take these messages into the rest of our relationships, whether we are aware of it or not!
I have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 15 years and across 3 countries. I am passionate about assisting clients to learn about themselves and how they interact in their relationships. I believe this knowledge is essential in the work we will do together. I strongly believe that people have within them the resources and abilities to make change in their lives and relationships. I work to create a safe environment to help people understand the patterns within their lives, where these patterns may have developed, and how they may be impacting their lives. This safe and supportive environment is a place where clients can be challenged to think in different ways about their issues.
I received my training in Marriage and Family Therapy from Arizona State University and have had experience with many therapeutic models and practices all looking at the system of the person and family. I practice using Family Systems theory alongside other methods to best assist clients where they are. I have worked with individuals across the life cycle and in various settings. I work with people addressing their relationship or family issues as well as depression, anxiety, and stresses which may be impacting relationships.
Katherine also works with parents to address concerns in their children or adolescents; this work involves increasing hope and agency for the parent in their own parenting and is free of blame. This program is 6-8 sessions long and parents report being able to think differently about themselves as a parent.
- I am still accepting new clients, however, currently due to physical distancing, I am offering phone and video sessions via Zoom.
