My name is Kevin Kokoska and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) who teaches courses in trauma, mental health, and psychology at Native Education College (NEC). I am also a writer and actor and have created/performed a total of four one-person plays about mental health topics. My last name means "broody hen".
I work from an emotion-focused, experiential, and strength-based approach, helping clients uncover skills they may not know they possessed before collaborating to creatively re-purpose these skills for therapeutic benefit. This is achieved through safety, sensitivity, and a sense of humour.
I completed my graduate studies at The University of British Columbia (UBC) in their client-centered, humanistic counselling psychology program. And I have since pursued additional training in Accelerated-Experiential Psychodynamic therapy (AEDP, Level 3).
Prior to becoming a clinical counsellor, I worked as a behavioural coach at a health & wellness centre in California. And, prior to that, I was a front-line outreach worker on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
Feel free to reach out via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or telephone (604-351-4989) to arrange a free 15-minute consultation to determine goodness of fit.
