Our thoughts, our emotions, and our bodies can sometimes become overwhelmed. When this happens, it can impact many areas of our lives. The good news is, there are powerful and proven tools that can help us to heal. I believe that we heal by gaining a sense of connection and wholeness.The foundation of my approach is building a strong working relationship. This involves respect, trust, and compassion. Gentleness is also very important to me.
Depending on the person and what is preferred, different approaches can be used. Examples of approaches can include: practical solutions, acting as a sounding board and having someone witness your experience, and working towards gaining insight. Treatment that is more directed can also be beneficial. Examples of these include EMDR (deliberate use of the REM state to process challenging information/states) and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (specific tools to understand and interact with our thoughts, emotions, and actions).
