I am a Child, Youth and Family Counsellor who has experience working alongside children and youth between the ages of 6 and 25 and their families. I have a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of British Columbia and am registered with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (#11794). For the past 10 years my professional experiences have been driven by my passion for working with children, youth and families; these experiences span across the fields of recreation, child welfare, substance use, child and youth mental health, and crisis intervention and support.
As a counsellor I strive to bring together my professional experience and training with the lived experiences, truths, and knowledge of the clients and families that I partner with. I enjoy exploring creative and dynamic approaches to therapy, including expression through the arts, physical activity and play, and mindfulness. My professional and academic training has been focused in the areas of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My counselling approach is influenced by family systems theory, client-centered practices, and trauma-informed practice.
Please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail to discuss how my approach and experience may be a fit for you and/or your family. I am currently accepting new clients to begin counselling in July.
