Practice information:
I am passionate about helping people and organizations change and thrive. I am a non-judgmental, compassionate therapist who provides assistance with a variety of issues, including anxiety and stress management, disordered eating, grief, depression, and interpersonal relationships. I have a particular interest in working with clients on developing resiliency and self-compassion through work and life transitions. In addition to providing one-on-one therapy and coaching, I facilitate Visioning workshops that empower women to clarify their life direction and embrace their goals and dreams. I have also added yoga training to my repertoire of skills and teach yoga classes for anxiety and depression, as well as workshops in mindfulness and mediation.
I began my working life in the financial sector, working for years in investments, change management, reorganization, project management, training, implementation, and business analysis. It was while working in the corporate world that I discovered my passion for helping people create meaningful lives for themselves, both personally and professionally. In my therapy and coaching practice, I now draw on both my experience in psychology and my past in business to help clients overcome hurdles and become their best selves.
Professional Experience
I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#2325). I obtained my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature and Psychology from the University of British Columbia and received my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology from McGill University, with additional training in Multicultural Counselling, Family Therapy, and Conflict Resolution. I have over a decade of experience working in a variety of environments including university counselling services, workplace mediation and change management, corporate training and consulting, career and vocational counselling, conflict resolution, crisis counselling, psycho-educational and career exploration workshop facilitation, and psychometric assessment administration and interpretation.
In addition to my counselling and psychological experience, I have been invited to speak as a presenter and workshop facilitator on topics related to leadership, resiliency, and mindfulness at the Canadian Psychological Association annual conference, the Canadian Bar Association of Nova Scotia, and for 21inc and Venture for Canada leadership programs. In addition, I was invited to work with Immigrant Services of Nova Scotia as a psychologist specializing in providing services to newly landed immigrants and refugees.
