My name is Jane Mai Ngo (she/her) and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS). I work with people seeking a stronger sense of purpose, increased self-esteem, self-acceptance, and clarity in their lives. I create a healing space for individuals to recover from the relentless effects of intergenerational and childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, and social conditioning that leaves people feeling disconnected from their authentic selves. I will act as a companion on your healing journey, using a strength-based, person-centered, attachment-focused, and culture and trauma-informed lens.
Together, we will create a safe and trusting space to heal from pain, gain increased resilience to stress, and rediscover trust in ourselves and others to have healthy and meaningful relationships. I bring mindfulness into my sessions to help clients gain a stronger mind and body connection, which is key to effective emotional regulation. I support couples who struggle with communication barriers and trust issues in their relationships. Using an emotion-focused and attachment lens, I help romantic partners develop effective communication skills to resolve conflicts in a healthy manner and gain comfort with vulnerability to have deeper relationships.
I started my helping career at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, BC after gaining my certification in Child Life. I supported children, teens, and families struggling with depression, grief and loss, medical-related trauma, and phobias. Today, I hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Care. I also have a Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy Certification.
I meet all my clients with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. I take utmost care to listen to you and tailor my approach to suit your needs and goals so that you feel seen and heard. I believe that you are the expert in your life, and I will work with you to rediscover trust in your own wisdom and intuition. I offer a soothing presence and will help you navigate the unknown world of therapy if you feel unsure of where to start. I bring my authentic self into sessions to ensure that you leave therapy feeling more reconnected to yourself.
I often work with children of immigrant parents, teenagers, couples, and adults struggling with anxiety, trauma, depression, phobias, and emotional regulation.
