My name is Jasmine and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor. I hold a MA in Counselling Psychology from Adler University, and a BA from the University of the Fraser Valley. I work with individuals from ages 17 and up, and I work inclusively with all genders and sexual orientations. I am known for my compassionate and non-judgemental style and I work to create a safe and trusting space for my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, memories and behaviours and come to new insights about themselves and their lives. Choosing the right counsellor can feel a little overwhelming and I applaud you for being courageous in taking this next step in improving your life!
I have experience working with a variety of issues including managing big life transitions, learning to embrace introversion and highly sensitive personalities, repairing attachment ruptures and improving communication and interpersonal patterns. Other issues I work with include anxiety and stress management, depressed mood, trauma, boundary and communication challenges, self-actualization and personal growth. I also utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with clients who feel unable to move on from traumatic events.
My philosophy of the change process is holistic and integrative, and I understand the importance of looking at the entire person, and acknowledging and celebrating that each individual is unique and diverse. I am a strong believer that our bodies hold many memories and much wisdom, and part of my work with clients is to help them to get in touch with the messages inside. I strongly believe that we are creative beings who, with hope and encouragement, can find our own inner wisdom and strength to make changes in our lives.
I have training in Life Span Integration, Gottman Couples Therapy, Expressive Therapy, Trauma Informed Practice, Mind-Body Integration, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping) and Adlerian Life-Style Assessment. I utilize a unique blend of Person-Centred, Adlerian Psychodynamic, EMDR and Somatic Therapy (Mind-Body) while working with my clients.
Outside of counselling I am also an adjunct faculty member at Adler University, Vancouver Campus, and I have a passion for teaching, and supervising students and novice counsellors.
I look forward to working with you! Book your appointment today!
