I frequently see clients struggling with a range of challenges, including: depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, loneliness, anger, and--the increasingly common 'trifecta' of 21st century addictions--i.e., the misuse of legal substances, technology & pornography. I regularly work with people from diverse backgrounds, and others who are confronting crises of worldview, identity and belief (e.g., those struggling with their own cultural and religious backgrounds, or changes in ideology and self-image).
I draw on my combined background in both counselling psychology (MC) and cognitive science (PhD) to pinpoint the most effective, evidence-based means for clients to face and resolve their challenges. My approach is collaborative, research-informed, and non-judgmental, no matter how dark or troubling a client's worries may be.
All the work I is do is informed by my passion for active, empathic listening, and a deep curiosity about my clients’ unique lived experience. I have an equal interest in talk-based, and body-mind approaches (e.g., mindfulness and somatic therapy). Regardless of our chosen technique, as my client, you, your experience and your safety, remain at the centre.
For multicultural clients & agencies:
Jordan can provide therapy in English and Spanish, and has a basic working knowledge of several Middle Eastern languages, including Persian (Farsi/Dari).
In addition to private practice, Jordan regularly works alongside interpreters to provide online counselling to refugees, asylum seekers, immigrants, and their families, on a sliding scale.
He does this in association with VICCIR (Vancouver Island Counselling Centre for Immigrants and Refugees): www.viccir.org
For services and referrals in this capacity, feel free to contact either VICCIR, or Jordan directly.
