Practice information:
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) working with adults and adolescents in my Vancouver office.
Many of the people who come to see me have various motivations for seeking psychotherapy. Some find themselves struggling with self-destructive patterns that have resulted in a number of losses and relationship conflicts. Some find themselves feeling especially:
- overwhelmed/anxious;
- lonely;
- hopeless/depressed;
- isolated and withdrawn from others;
- underachieving in some area(s) of their lives;
- in chronic emotional/physical pain;
- low in self-esteem, and/or;
- unable to assert their needs and desires, and/or;
The journey to attain and maintain meaningful connections with others, achieve goals, or find freedom from debilitating symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, and/or grief can be very painful and seem especially daunting.
Whichever your motivation for seeking support, we will work together to clarify the problems impacting you, how they started, what are maintaining them, and how you can change them. Throughout this process, you may learn about the ways in which you have coped with your struggles and may discover some of these may no longer be helpful to you and you would like support developing alternative ways of coping. My work is very active and collaborative in sessions, using complementary approaches, to assess and work through your moment-by-moment responses to treatment interventions. I have found through this collaborative, step-by-step approach, clients report a greater understanding of the processes contributing to their pain and suffering. At the same time, and session by session, clients are supported through an important and powerful process of working through their emotional blockages. As a result of engaging in this repeated experience, clients often report an abrupt drop in their tension, anxiety, and their other physical symptoms. It is the balance between collaboration and hands-on experiences in each session that allows for improved mastery over difficulties, sometimes in a relatively short number of sessions.
