If you are struggling with your mental health, it can seem almost impossible to imagine that something can be done to help. However, through counselling you can better identify negative beliefs and behaviors, and replace them with healthy, positive ones. As a counsellor, I believe therapeutic relationships can create a safe space for emotions to be explored which leads to understanding, growth and healing. Knowing everyone is unique, I tailor my treatment to each client's needs. I work with many different clients including professionals, parents, families and other adults.
Each situation is different, but we may explore the following in therapy:
- getting rid of unhelpful reoccurring thoughts
- working on relationship issues including mistrust, lack of support, and feeling unheard or alone
- understanding overwhelming emotions
- reducing symptoms of depression or anxiety
- dealing with life's unplanned transitions
I believe in facilitating therapeutic work that leads to insights you can apply in your life whether it be shifting perspective, experiencing emotional awareness or stability. I focus on using a combination of modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-centered, Systems Theory, Mindfulness & Trauma-Informed Practice.
It can be difficult to navigate life experiences when feeling alone, not listened to and trying to manage responsibilities. My goal is to foster resiliency, and help you regain a sense of control to ease feelings of hopelessness, guilt, fear or anger.
