Julie is a Registered Social Worker (13631) who after working with high risk youth for many years, obtained her Masters in Social Work specializing in palliative care to pursue her passion of working with palliative and bereaved clients. With her calm presence and gentle demeanor she assists people through the emotions experienced alongside grief and loss in both one on one and family group settings. Julie helps individuals gain perspective of their feelings and increases effective communication with their supports using narrative therapy, motivational therapy and solution focused therapy. Client’s goals are set collaboratively and new narratives of the individual’s life are created.
Julie is currently providing free bereavement counselling through The Bloom Group for up to 5 sessions with a sliding scale rate after that. Counselling is offered at two locations in Vancouver with evening and weekend time slots available.
Over the phone intake sessions will occur to discuss if bereavement counselling is the right fit for you at this time.
UPDATE: due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns, counselling sessions will be offered virtually, either through Zoom, FaceTime, or over the phone. We are hopeful that in person sessions will begin again in August, with additional health and safety protocols in place and on a case by case basis.
