Julie is a Registered Social Worker (13631) who after working with high risk youth for many years, obtained her Masters in Social Work and immediately began working doing clinical social work with palliative and bereaved clients. Julie has since expanded her counselling practice and works with many different demographics, predominantly around stress and anxiety and life transitions. Julie is also trained in Executive Functioning, helping school age children to learn the nuances of how they learn and finding adaptations of the current classroom model to create success for their learning goals. Adults have also benefited from Executive Functioning sessions to assist with time management, prioritizing tasks, and procrastination, among other skills. With people managing grief and loss, her calm presence and gentle demeanor assists people through the emotions experienced alongside loss in both one on one and family group settings. Julie helps individuals gain perspective of their feelings and increases effective communication with their supports using narrative therapy, motivational therapy and solution focused therapy. Client’s goals are set collaboratively and new narratives of the individual’s life are created.
Julie is currently providing in person and online counselling throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, and is currently accepting new clients. Some subsidized sessions available upon request and proven need.
Over the phone 15 minute intake sessions are available to discuss any questions you may have, including readiness to participate in counselling, and if it is the right fit for you at this time.
