Dr. Gail Krivel-Zacks has helped hundreds of students overcome challenges to achieve success. 

A Registered Clinical Counsellor, Dr. Gail received her doctorate in Educational Psychology and Special Education from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Gail has dedicated her career to directly helping children and adolescents thrive in their unique communities. She is intimately familiar with the school environment having taught in elementary schools and in faculties of education at the University of British Columbia and Vancouver Island University. She most recently has been the coordinator of the Master of Special Education program at Vancouver Island University. 

Parents learn to understand what their children are communicating through their behaviour. Individual sessions are available as well as, facilitated support groups offer parents a safe positive environment in which to talk with other parents who understand.

Dr. Gail's focus;

• Understanding the interrelationship between learning and social/emotional functioning and helping to bring about positive change 
• Developing competence through remediation that promotes improved self esteem 
• Providing a safe environment to express feelings and anxieties
• Providing therapeutic listening for the reasons behind behaviours that interfere with learning 
• Employing strategies to address avoidance and resistance
• Dealing with self-esteem issues 
• Encouraging flexible problem solving 
• Helping "Socially disorganized" children develop the motivation, conversation skills and social  understanding to develop positive and lasting relationships with peers
• Individual sessions available for children and adolescents not ready for a group setting  
• Colloborative Problem Solving
