Challenging events? Life changes? Overwhelmed? Stressed? Needing balance? Struggling with anxiety, relationships, depression, grief, decisions, performance? Looking forward to getting to where you want to be, to achieving your dreams, to fulfilling your potential, or to simply getting back to “normal” again after an overwhelmingly difficult loss or event? Or maybe even for the first time…Being on top of your game or moving on after challenging events or hurtful experiences is not easy. But there are ways through and I can help.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #13198) with a Master’s Degree in Education (MEd) from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology (MCP) from the Adler University. Originally I was trained as a Psychologist in Brazil (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais) where I am still apt to practice (CRP-MG).
I have a very warm and genuine style and years of experience counselling clients from a variety of cultural, religious, and social backgrounds. I have successfully helped many get to where they wanted to be, and often while moving through challenging life transitions, devastating losses, emotional pain, difficult relationships, grief, impairing distress, and other kinds of overwhelming experiences.
My approach to counselling is based on my many years of training in attachment-based and trauma-informed perspectives, regulation theory, and family systems. It is also based on my understanding that biopsychosocial and spiritual factors will affect human well-being and functioning. In addition to counselling, I have also taught extensively, including as a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Education at UBC, and as a lecturer / workshop facilitator at private colleges and non-profit organizations.
As a new client reaches out we generally have a brief exchange and then agree to meet in person for an initial 30-minute consultation that is free of charge. This first meeting serves as an opportunity for us to evaluate whether I can be of help and whether we are a good fit to work together. It is also a great chance to ask further questions about what to expect and to express any potential concerns.
I look forward to meeting you soon and to offer you my support in tracing the plan of a better, more satisfying and fulfilling life. Yes, helping you find relief from distress and moving towards achieving your most significant dreams.
