***ON MATERNITY LEAVE THROUGH SUMMER 2020***
Hi. I'm Fayza.
I am a Somatic Therapist and Registered Social Worker. I support clients who are queer (or LGBTQ2S+), and clients who are Indigenous, Black, and/or People of Colour, including folks of mixed ancestry, to heal from the impacts of trauma and oppression and lead more liberated lives.
Somatic Counselling and Bodywork are my offerings toward social change. I work with those of us who are impacted by trauma and oppression, and those of us who dream of new possibilities, for the sake of our individual and collective healing, aliveness, and power.
Clients like you come to see me for support related to:
-Healing from traumatic experiences and oppressive conditions
-Developing healthy relationships
-Setting and maintaining clear boundaries
-Living with chronic illness and disability
-Thriving as queer and/or racialized people
Among other reasons…
I have been learning from leaders in politicized healing, Generative Somatics, since 2010. I am currently an Assistant Teacher with Generative Somatics in their Leadership and Trauma Healing programs.
I earned my Masters in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011, where my clinical counselling focus was working with queer and trans clients, while co-leading a student effort to improve the school's racial equity practices.
I reserve a majority of my availability (70% of my longer-term spaces) for clients who are Indigenous, Black, and/or People of Colour, including clients of mixed ancestry.
If you're interested in working with me, and are queer (or LGBTQ2S+) and white, welcome! My availability to begin with new clients who are white can vary. You are always invited to ask about my current availability.
If you're interested in working with me and don't identify as either queer (or LGBTQ2S+) or Indigenous, Black, or a Person of Colour, I invite you to ask about my availability as I am occasionally able to offer short-term work (10-12 sessions) for additional clients.
I look forward to hearing from you.
