I’m Erin Seggie MCP, a registered clinical counsellor working primarily in Vancouver and Port Moody, BC. I have had the privilege of working alongside individuals, couples and families of all ages, genders, and sexual orientations, in both community-based counselling settings and in private practice. I am also happy to offer video and phone counselling.
For the last few years it has been my privilege to help clients in overcoming depressions, easing anxieties and achieving connected and satisfying relationships with people they love. I have special training in interpersonal relationships; I utilize Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and am a Gottman Method Level 2 Certified Therapist. I believe that all human beings have the desire and drive to connect in a meaningful way, and this focus on attachment frames my understanding of those obstacles, that prevent us from attaining this. My practice is all about addressing these obstacles and opening up to the power of vulnerability, where change happens and emotional connection is found. I am also an experienced trauma therapist, trained in Lifespan Integration (LI) Level 1 and Observed Experiential Integration (OEI) Level 1.
Finding a skilled therapist you are comfortable with is no easy task. Reaching out is a brave first step, so I’m glad you found your way here. Having a great relationship with your therapist is important, but attentive and empathetic listening isn't enough. A good therapist will come along side you in recognizing patterns of thinking, behaving and relating to others – and tune into how your emotional experience impacts these areas. She will help you attune to your emotions and intuition to increase self-knowledge and self-awareness. Working with a good therapist can help you uncover your best self, one that is aligned with your own beliefs and values.
Whatever has happened to prompt you to seek counselling, I encourage you to get in touch for some support. I can help with interpersonal and adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, issues with intimacy and connectedness in relationships, stress, grief and loss, abuse and trauma. I also offer services to those wanting to lead more balanced lives by addressing communication skills, interpersonal boundaries, and assertiveness skills. In the past, I have experience working in mental health and addictions services. I want to work collaboratively with you to navigate and address what is distressing you, so that you can move on with confidence and fulfillment.
