We all encounter challenges and difficulties that at times frustrate and overwhelm us. They may prevent us from living our lives the way we truly want. But these struggles also present us with a Time for Change- an opportunity to discuss your concerns with a trusted professional who will help you to find solutions to your problems and embrace change. It’s time to live the life you always envisioned – It’s time for change.
My name is Eva Helpard and I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW)*, Psychotherapist, Family Counsellor and sessional Professor. I have a Doctorate Degree in Social Work (Ph.D).
For more than 25 years it has been my privilege to provide counselling and psychotherapy to individuals, families and groups. I have learned and grown from each and every experience having witnessed times of great personal strength and courage. My private counselling centre, Time for Change, provides a safe, supportive and respectful environment where I offer confidential services to women, men, children, adolescents, couples and families to address a wide variety of concerns including:
- Emotional Distress: Depression, Anxiety and Panic Disorders
- Eating Disorders and Body Image Concerns
- Addictions
- Relationships: Marriage Enhancement, Blending Families, Separation and Divorce
- Domestic Violence and Abuse
- Life Transition Issues: Puberty, Post-partum, Menopause, Loss and Grief
- Effects of Illness: Pain Management, Sleep Disorders
I am passionate about the work I do. I feel honoured and inspired to work with people who show such great courage and resolve to improve their lives. I have worked in many areas of mental health and addictions with specialized training in family therapy, teaching clinical practice in social work and helping to pioneer the development of both AADAC’s Adolescent Addictions Treatment Centre and Alberta Health Services Eating Disorder Program.
I seek to understand each person individually and holistically, taking into account the emotional, cognitive, behavioral, relational, cultural, physical, social and spiritual aspects. My approach is not limited to recognizing and understanding challenges but more importantly the abilities, resources and strengths of the people I counsel.
I am here to help you understand your circumstances, gain new perspectives and find solutions.
Working collaboratively and respectfully, we will uncover and explore options and I will help you work though the change process. Together we will create and realize your unique vision of the future. I believe in change and that everyone is capable of finding solutions to their circumstances.
