I understand how difficult it can be to even start the process of looking for a counsellor that fits your needs. It is a huge investment emotionally and financially and I am happy to offer a free 30 minute consultation because I recognize that the client/therapist relationship has to feel like a good fit for the client and I want to provide the opportunity to the client to gauge that fit before spending a dime. This would not be a counselling session as such but rather a conversation where you can ask me any questions you may have and get a feel for me and my approach. There is no pressure to book a subsequent session. Should you choose to do so, simply contact us when you feel ready; or not. It's that simply.
I have over 25 years of couples, marriage, relationship and individual counselling experience. Some issues I regularly work with in therapy include but are not exclusive to:
*Communication
*Infidelity
*Blended family issues (step-parenting, etc)
*Intimacy- emotional and physical
*Pre-marital counselling
*"Should I leave or should I go?' decisions
*Parent/teen mediation
*Strategies for getting out of relationship ruts
*Managing life transitions
I worked as a teacher/guidance counsellor in the public school system for several years prior to getting my Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#2122) and have completed Level Two Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training. I am also primarily influenced by Solution-focused Brief Therapy wherein there is structure and clarity around the clients' needs and goals and where I offer pragmatic strategies and tools to achieve those goals as quickly as possible. I am committed to on-going professional development.
Another area of great interest and passion for me is empowering individuals by supporting them as they re-envision their lives with possibility and hope. I offer an honest, safe, non-judgemental and supportive environment for my clients. The NO-NONSENSE tools and strategies I offer my clients are not designed to be band-aids for the current situation but can serve to provide the skills with which to bring about lasting change.
I am now seeing clients in-person in my office where social-distancing restrictions are strictly adhered to. Zoom and/or phone sessions are also available.
My work hours are a little more flexible as we navigate through the craziness of these times:
*Mondays - no in-office sessions, only virtual or phone
*Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - in-office, virtual or phone start at 11am, latest start at 6:30pm
*Fridays - in-office, virtual or phone start at 11am, latest start at 4pm
