I work with people who want to deepen their resilience and stay engaged in their relationships even when things are hard. My clients are diverse: 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who are coming out “late” in life, parents of young kids who are breaking the cycle, couples who want to deepen their bond, people (especially men) who struggle with managing their anger, and people navigating separation and divorce. I know what this stuff like; I've lived through it myself and I've found my way to thriving, and I've supported clients through it, too.
My approach is based on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) which emphasize the science of attachment and emotions. I believe that we are all wired for healing and growth, no matter what we've been through. Together we will explore what holds you back and help you find your way to thriving.
In my work with couples, my approach is more experiential than educational. Often couples argue about something without really communicating the core need underneath the content of the argument. I will not tell you how to communicate, I will help you communicate differently by first helping you identify the core of the issue, and then facilitating conversations that get to the heart of what really matters to both of you.
I will welcome you (and your partner, if you come as a couple) just as you are, and I will have compassion for you even when you feel you don't deserve it. I will be curious about your past and present relationships because I believe that relationships, particularly our earliest ones, shape who we are.
If you think we might be a good fit, let's schedule a consultation phone call.
