I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor affiliated with the BC Association for Clinical Counsellors with a Masters in Counselling Psychology. I have been providing counselling to individuals and couples for over a decade. I support clients who are struggling with a wide range of challenges including the impacts of childhood and adult trauma, physical sexual and emotional abuse, sexual assault, stranger and intimate partner violence. I treat clients who are experiencing PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationships and marital problems, challenges in parenting as well as clients who are want to work on their personal growth.
During my years of practice I have had the privilege of witnessing my clients achieve their goals, leave their past behind and live in the present a happier more fulfilling life. I feel grateful to be invited to walk beside my clients through their healing journey.
I work with each client in cooperation to understand their unique challenges and on finding ways to overcome them. The cooperative work is essential in my approach to counselling based on the belief that people are the experts on their own experience. I have a deep appreciation for the strengths, skills, insight and intuition that clients bring to the sessions.
My training includes a range of therapeutic approaches and methods within an antioppressive and wholistic framework including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) , Focusing Oriented Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, Sensorimotor Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused approaches.
In addition to my formal education and ongoing professional development I bring to my practice my experience overcoming personal struggles, my life experience and a genuine care and interest in my clients' lives and wellbeing.
