I value people and I care deeply for those that I work with.
I believe change, growth and healing are possible and that people are naturally wired for such progress. At the same time, I recognize that the person you are today has been formed by your past experiences and environments. They have profoundly impacted how you see yourself, how you see the world and how you function in your life today.
In counselling I will listen carefully to everything you have to say. I will be gently curious about your emotional experiences, thinking processes and behavioural patterns. I will look for themes of strength, survival and what has worked for you. I will look for common elements among all of our conversations and highlight them so that insight can be brought to the patterns in your life. While looking at the interplay between your emotions, thinking and behaviours, we can together shift or remove the barriers that block natural growth so that you are brought ever closer to your goals for change and healing.
My journey of becoming a helping professional began in nursing 25 years ago. After working with patients in a rehabilitation setting for several years, I discovered my love for counselling. Eleven years ago I began my counselling training and I now hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. I am registered with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors.
I am also registered with British Columbia's Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP). If you have been the victim of a crime, or been witness to one, you may be eligible for free counselling.
I work with a wide variety of people in individual and group settings, with adolescents and adults in these areas of practice:
