Currently, I work as a High School Counsellor and have a special interest in helping individuals find a stronger sense of self. More generally, I really enjoy the opportunity to work with anyone going through a life transition(s). For example, graduation, career changes, or the end of a relationship. I see great power in identifying areas of strength, as well as areas for growth. I believe that once we can better identify our values and how we'd like to be in the world, growth happens almost organically and in the directions we desire. My wish is for the people I work with to one day leave counselling with a stronger sense of self.
In my counselling sessions I work to maintain a safe environment for my clients. One where they do not feel at risk of judgment or saying the wrong thing. I believe a certain level of comfort is needed in a client-counsellor relationship in order to create change outside of that relationship. I believe counselling can be a challenging but rewarding process.
Reaching out to a counsellor for the first time can be a scary thing for new clients. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have prior to your first session. Sometimes a brief conversation can really help to decrease any initial concerns.
