I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#1523) and I see individual adults in my home office in North Saanich, BC.
I work with people with a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety and depression, loss and grief, trauma, emotional, physical or sexual abuse, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem, trouble containing anger, eating problems, insomnia, relationship struggles, life transitions, chronic illness, aging, dying and death. I also work with those who wish to grow more fully into their potential and creativity, to understand their dreams, to make meaning of their lives or with spiritual concerns.
If you are struggling with feelings, thoughts or patterns of behaviour that you are having a hard time to change despite your best efforts, the approach I offer may be very helpful to you.
Some situations for which a person might seek counselling can be worked through in a relatively short period of time by a process of problem solving, or learning new ways of thinking and responding. At other times thoughts, feelings and behaviours do not seem to make sense and are hard to change. As we work together in a non-judgemental and confidential environment we aim to mobilise deeper aspects of your self that may shed light on the underlying meanings of these "symptoms". Working through all that comes to light in this process can result in lasting changes in how you experience yourself and your relationships and how you function in the world.
I have a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology with emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in California. I have also spent a number of years in the practice of medicine, which offers numerous opportunities to become familiar with the humanness of our responses to crises, trauma, loss of control, helplessness, vulnerability, and search for meaning, as well as to observe the interplay of the mind and body.
My belief is that there is meaning in symptoms such as anxiety, depression, moodiness, anger, grief, loneliness, lack of self-esteem and repeating behaviours. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy approaches these symptoms in a hopeful and constructive way, using them as beacons to growth and healing. At this time I am offering psychoanalysis to individual adults also.
As the relationship between you as client and myself as therapist is central to this work, I make it a priority to involve myself in an ongoing process of self-discovery and awareness.
Please feel free to phone or email me if you would like clarification on any of this information.
- I am currently a Candidate with the Western Branch of the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society. As such I am temporarily offering low-fee psychoanalysis.
Client fee individuals:$110/hour. Negotiated fee where possible for those who can not manage this fee.
