I offer a holistic and integrative approach to counselling which highlights empowerment and healing; my priority is to treat the whole person, with emphasis on bringing all parts into balance. In my work, I draw from attachment-based therapy, emotion-focused therapy, internal family systems, and energetic and somatic therapies. My approach is feminist, inclusive and evidence-based.
Through my own personal and extensive professional experience, I have a deep understanding and appreciation for how complicated, messy, and challenging life can be, and I consider it a great privilege to love and support other people in my work as a counsellor. With a warm and compassionate presence, I provide a safe and confidential space where clients can work through personal challenges toward emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellness.
My greatest joy is watching my clients become more fully themselves. I offer you a professional relationship that is deeply accepting and non-judgmental, but also objective and truthful. The issues that bring you to therapy likely began in the context of relationship, and so need to be healed in the context of relationship. My expertise is in creating a very specific type of relationship with you, that catalyzes healing and change.
My work with clients always begins with a phone consultation, where I can answer your questions and discern if we’re the right fit for each other. Depending on the type of treatment you’re interested in, this call may include screening questions and a discussion of contraindications and the overall process. If we both agree to move forward together, we will collaborate on a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs. The process may include virtual or in person sessions, or a blend of both, and is unique to each person. No single approach is the right fit for everybody. I am committed to aligning my therapeutic process with current best practices, and I adhere to the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) Code of Ethics.
I am a mother to a young boy, a teacher, a writer, artist and long distance runner. I am fascinated by bees, moss, and mushrooms. I find endless teachings and medicine in nature. I feel deeply connected to water and land - that of my Scottish and Northern English ancestors and the land I live on now, the traditional and unceded territory of the Kwantlen, Matsqui, Semiahmoo, and Katzie First Nations.
