Life has a way of being overwhelming sometimes, especially when we are in a season of transition. If you or your partner are trying to conceive, are expecting, just recently welcomed a little one to your family, or are grieving the loss of a pregnancy, it is incredibly common and natural to struggle to adapt to such an enormous change. "Becoming" the parent you want to be does not happen over night, and there is a steep learning curve. In a time when the world expects you to feel nothing but joy, excitement, and happiness along your reproductive journey, it can feel disorienting, confusing and isolating when things don't go as planned and feelings like anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, relationship stress, and grief show up instead. On the other hand, it can also be really hard to cope if you have chosen not to have children and you are facing pressure from friends, family, and society. I really want you to know that if any of these things are happening to you, you are not alone, you are not to blame, and with help and support, you will feel better.
As a counselor with prior professional background in massage therapy, I know the interconnection between the body and mind and I believe in taking a wholistic approach that integrates the two. I take a collaborative, relational, strengths-based, and systemic approach to mental health that blends mindfulness, person-centered therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I center you as the expert in your own life, and believe that you already possess the innate capacity to overcome life's challenges. Together, we'll explore your unique lived experiences, relationships, and hopes and dreams for the future to highlight your resilience, sort through and process those difficult feelings, make a plan to help you get your needs met, and equip you with coping strategies so that you can move forward towards the life you aspire to live.
The most important thing each of us can do to show up as our best selves in our relationships with our important "others" is to take care of ourselves first. You are worthy of the same care, love, and kindness that you would extend to your most treasured friend. So don't wait another minute, reach out today to chat with me and get started on the path to healing.
