More than ever, families are struggling with how to connect with each other. Social media, busy schedules and financial stressors are just some of the issues that families are dealing with today. These factors can contribute to conflict, communication breakdown and a lack of connection with each other. Chantal’s hope through therapy with children, teens and their families is to increase connection, confidence in parenting and understanding of mental health issues.
Chantal focuses on a therapeutic approach called Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). The model holds the belief that the caregiver is the agent of healing in their child’s life, and through support and therapy, the caregiver delivers the interventions, support to their child themselves. Overall, connecting the family together and improving everyone’s mental health and relationships.
Chantal believes that a large piece of our distress, mental health challenges and conflicts are rooted in our disconnection from ourselves and our loved ones. Chantal is passionate about the mental health of families, relationships and supporting a deeper connection between all members.
In her therapeutic work, Chantal focuses on individual therapy work from an attachment, trauma informed, and neurobiological lens. She is qualified to work with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Circle of Security and Person-Centered Therapy. Another passion of Chantal’s is working with divorced couples and supporting their co-parenting.
Working from systemic perspective, Chantal offers consultation and advocacy to schools and multi-disciplinary professionals. She also creates and facilitates mental health workshops and delivers the Connect Parent Groups and the EFFT Caregiver Workshop.
