Clients usually come to me when they are struggling with their sense of identity, most often as a result of life changes, health challenges, family/relationship issues, or managing multiple cultural identities. Together, we can navigate through challenges, make sense of past experiences and ease areas you are feeling stuck. I will support you in finding deeper meaning, developing new understandings of yourself, nurturing relationships, and discovering new ways of being that enrich your life.
I believe every individual has the capacity to grow through their struggles and emerge with clarity, strength and purpose. By cultivating a safe, respectful space to understand your needs, we can explore the patterns that are keeping you stuck. Through the practice of self-awareness and self-compassion, you can connect more deeply with your experiences, develop new understandings of self and learn new ways of being. My therapeutic style is collaborative and integrative, meaning that we will work together on areas that you want addressed, and I will adapt the format of sessions to meet your specific situation and needs. My practice is rooted in connecting to a sense of purpose and meaning, and understanding the influences of the larger societal and cultural contexts on our lives.
I am committed to creating a welcoming and diverse counselling practice. Some of the areas I focus on are:
-
Identity and life transitions
-
Depression, anxiety and stress
-
Racial identity, first generation immigrant challenges, and multicultural issues
-
Family of origin and attachment work
-
Relationships, sex and intimacy
-
Navigating health challenges and the medical system
-
Reproductive mental health (including postpartum depression)
It is my great privilege to support individuals as we explore the complex histories that we each carry within us and find our way forward.
