Tia is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (RCC#12085). She graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology.
Tia’s work includes individuals, families and teens addressing areas of anxiety, depression, stress management, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, career exploration and wellness.
Tia takes a client-centered approach to counselling and creatively tailors her approach depending on the unique client needs. She factors in client’s life circumstances and appreciates each individual’s human growth potential. Tia has experience working in the university setting providing mental health, crisis, career, and student success counselling.
Tia has experience facilitating psycho-educational groups on stress management, coping with anxiety, effective time management/life balance, career exploration, and study skills/student success. She has received training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing trauma therapy Level 1 (EMDR) and Observed & Experiential Integration Level 1 & 2 (OEI) trauma therapy, critical incident stress debriefing, and psychological first aid response. Other areas of training include Satir therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety and depression, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
Tia’s energetic commitment to her clients shines through as she collaboratively works with them to achieve their goals. She is passionate about her counselling work and deeply values the therapeutic relationship.
Tia accepts referrals from physicians, clients, social service agencies, school counsellors, employee and family assistance programs (EAP). She is an approved provider for the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP). Appointments are available in the evening and Saturdays.
