Next Steps on Your Healing Journey…
Whether you are considering a change in your life or are in the midst of one, it helps to have a trained and professional counsellor listen and explore options or perspectives with you that may be difficult for you to see on your own at this time.
I use a holistic approach where we consider the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your life situation.
My practice is safe, comfortable, warm and embracing. I work from a person-centered Rogerian modality. I incorporate solution-focused techniques, narrative therapy, and spiritually integrated psychotherapy as appropriate.
For many good reasons, my counselling style attracts individuals working in health, mental health, legal, educational and other helping professions.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC, a requirement of many EAP benefit providers.
I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counseling & Psychotherapy Association.
I am registered with the British Columbia Crime Victim Assistance Program and provide counselling to claimants under this program.
I am an EAP counsellor for Optum (formerly PPC Canada/Worldwide), Homewood Health, Arete, and Chicago based ComPsych so simply check your employment benefits package and phone your EAP program requesting a referral to my practice. Many major Insurance companies also recognize my credentials - you may be reimbursed for my services.
I continue to offer Mindfulness Meditation, Art in the Gazebo, Walk & Talk Therapy, Ritual Design, Individual Counselling, and specialized Women's Groups. Self Care is personal maintenance so I keep your files for ten years as many of you return for brief periods during challenging times. I remember you.
If you would like a safe group experience, Sophia is a small group of women of a certain age who meet once monthly for two and a half hours. We explore the wisdom of women in the various global spiritual and religious traditions but we always return to our own ways of knowing in the room, in this community, on this island, at this time. Spiritual practices are introduced and explored, and soul work (homework) is inspiring, intriguing and open to creative possibility in written, artistic or other therapeutic forms. “Terry Folks is a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and both a scholar and personal practitioner of various spiritual traditions from around the world. She leads the group into worlds of wisdom then gracefully recedes into the background as she continues to guide the group in its self realization” E-mail me via he above form if you would like to be part of Sophia.
Boundary Groups are always offered at SpiritFirst Self Care. If you would like to learn more about boundaries, how to set them, how to maintain them, and how to experience health and freedom in all relationships – Email me via the above form. Boundary Groups are ongoing.
And remember: Self care is not selfish ... Self care can help you become the best YOU that you can be.
