Sue Diamond Potts, M.A. is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#178) and has over 25 years experience in the counselling field.
My focus is to assist you in creating the life you long to have, which for most people includes close, loving relationships. Most people have a vision of how they want their life to be, but are not able to get there on their own. If you are struggling with an addiction or having difficulties with a close personal relationship, then I am here to help. Addiction problems or unresolved trauma will affect you as an individual but will also erode away at or destroy your close personal relationships. If you grew up in a family where emotional intimancy was lacking, then you will have difficulties creating healthy relationship as well. I help clients who have difficulties with anxiety and depression and who have trouble expressing and managing their emotions, especially following a significant loss. All of these core issues may stem from the past and at the same time, be alive and active in your present life.
I have a unique integrated method of therapy which includes healing emotional wounds through a combination of traditional talk therapy, body psychotherapy as well as mindfulness training for calming and grounding you. I have trained with many of the top leaders in the field of addictions and couples therapy and utilize this training to offer you the most current and effective treatment techniques. As someone who grew up with and was personally affected by addiction, I have a unique perspective on both the problem and the solution.
It takes courage to embark on the journey of healing, but the benefits can be amazing! I believe you will be able to live the life of your dreams, if you are willing to commit to the process. Current research in interpersonal neurobiology explains why none of us can reach our goals on our own. The good news is, you don’t have to. Help is just a call away. Invest in your emotional wellbeing today by reaching out for help. Together we can explore how you and/or your relationship can become the very best reflection of you.
