Dr. Clark has been a psychologist for over 15 years and works in a variety of capacities including direct service, teaching and supervision to professionals and students, and she is involved with provincial and national psychology committees.
Dr. Clark provides assessment, treatment, and consultation to children and adolescents. She also provides support to parents around a number of issues including parenting strategies and behaviour management. Her speciality is in providing comprehensive assessments that evaluate the multiple factors of cognition, learning, social and emotional development, and family and school functioning. Dr. Clark's expertise is in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, including phobias and OCD. Her work is guided by cognitive-behavioural therapy as well as mindfulness-based approaches.
Dr. Clark is also a staff psychologist at B.C. Children's Hospital where she provides services to children and teens with mental heatlh issues. She does presentations and education for physicians, teachers, counsellors, parents, and others on anxiety disorders and the impact on family and school functioning. She is the co-author of the Taming Worry Dragons treatment program for anxiety.
Guiding principles of her work include the use of current, relevant research, best practice standards, goodness-of-fit, and she believes that providing a supportive, collaborative relationship with clients is essential.
