Hello, NAJ therapies is a shared practice run by Ron Prasad.
Ron is a registered clinical counselor with the BCACC (British Columbia Clinical Counselors Association), and a member of ITAPP (International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals). He's a certified sexual addiction therapist, (CSAT candidate) with ITAPP and has a graduate degree in counseling psychology (ie. MA), from Trinity Western University. He's been a counselor for the past 13 years, working in the area of addictions and mental health, also known as co-occurring disorders having worked in a variety of health settings (ie. provincial and non profit societies), and worked with homeless clients, mandated for treatment clients, children and adults alike.
The practice is run from an office in the Guildford area, which makes it convenient to see clients from the Fraser valley, including areas as far as Mission and/or Chilliwack. The practice does offer virtual counseling if that assists in overcoming issues of confidentiality and distance.
For many clients, recognizing they have a problem in their personal lives can be a very difficult reality. Most think by avoiding or ignoring the problem, it will resolve itself. Often, clients feel that no one else knows what they are going through or that their problems can be so shameful or embarrassing, it’s too dangerous or difficult to talk about it.
Ron's approaches to counseling are gentle but direct helping clients overcome stigma and self judgments, and that conveys a desire to see clients have better outcomes in their lives. His goal in counseling it to create a safe, confidential environment where clients are actively encouraged to discuss and explore their issues, and take steps to address them in practical ways, leading them to feel more empowered and free. Ron has had the privilege of seeing clients succeed in overcoming their difficulties but recognize the difficulties of taking that first step. Ron's area of work include the following:
Addictions (including sexual preoccupations); cross-cultural issues; grief and loss; life transitions; personal growth; family conflicts such as in law relationships, boundaries, spiritual issues; self-esteem issues; stress management; anxiety issues, and workplace difficulties and working with couples, or partners who have been wounded by sexual infidelity or sex addiction issues. .
In the past, clients they have worked have included adults, couples, adolescents, members of the gay/lesbian community and persons from a broad spectrum of faiths.
Ron does have access to referring clients to others counselors who work in the practice as well who do similar work as he does with infidelity and betrayal within marriages due to sexual acting out.
