I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor and I trained as an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist which enables me to work with clients drawing from many modalities according to the individual client and what he/she wants to work on.
When a client makes the decision to come to therapy, they are often overwhelmed by their problems and apprehensive about what therapy will entail.
I create a safe and caring environment in which the therapeutic relationship is built. By working together on such issues as self-esteem or anxiety, the client feels heard and not so alone. They can see that there is light at the end of the tunnel and begin to feel that they are taking their power and therefore their life back.
I believe that many of today's problems such as depression, anxiety and self-esteem issues have their roots in our history with our family of origin and the coping skills we learned then but which no longer serve us. It is my belief that all individuals have the potential to change negative patterns by becoming aware of old conditioning and that my role as your therapist is to create a safe space in which your strengths and resources are highlighted and honoured.
For the very depressed client I find the use of cognitive behavioural therapy extremely helpful at a time when everything seems negative and where the person is unable to talk about how they truly feel.
I am also trained in psychosynthesis, the essential aim of which is to help people discover their true spiritual nature and to effectively utilize this discovery in everyday life. It is designed to help you move away from what you don't want in your life and towards what you do want. Life changes can create life transformation.
I work mainly with individuals and couples and my main focus is on anxiety, depression, relationship, work issues and grief counselling and abuse. I am registered as a service provider with Crime Victims Assistance Program. I work from the belief that it is you the client who has the ability to transform your life and with the intuitive skills of your therapist that you can reach your true potential.
