I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in private practice in the heart of James Bay, Victoria, BC. I received a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoira in 1991 and have 25 years of experience in counselling therapy.
I work primarily with individuals who have experienced early trauma or shock trauma and are now living with depression, anxiety or PTSD. I also see couples for relationship therapy.
Using warmth, deep listening, and gentle enquiry, I develop a safe and nurturing environment for clients to explore their painful experiences ranging from traumatic events to the cummulative stresses in daily life.
Common client concerns include: anxiety/panic; depression; trauma/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); grief; illness; injury; abuse; motor vehicle accident; body image and health.
My therapeutic approach to healing is integrative, drawing from my experience and training in Buddhist psychology, Mindfulness meditation and stress reduction, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing and Somatic Transformation ( Body/Mind/Spirit).
My practice has been greatly influenced by the teachings of Virginia Satir, Jon Kabat-Zinn and Thich Nhat Hanh.
