I believe my role as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Professional Art Therapist is to work hard at understanding where a person has come from and how they relate to others in their life, so that I can be diligent about providing a genuine relationship that will foster growth and change over time.
I work on strengthening people’s inner resilience while helping people to feel heard and understood, whether it is about relationship struggles, past trauma, work/school stress, parent/teen conflict, attachment issues, identity struggles, the loss of a loved one, or a major life transition.
I help people learn how to shift what they are believing, thinking, feeling and doing so that they can leave therapy moving forward in life under their own momentum and with their own sense of meaning, purpose, and motivation.
I have 10 years of experience in a variety of settings ranging from outreach family therapy, to community counselling centres, to group homes for children and youth with severe behaviours and mental illness, to inpatient and outpatient mental health. I have extensive experience working with youth as well as adults and I have years of experience dealing with depression and anxiety. I have also worked with relationship violence offenders and survivors of abuse for many years.
I have specialized training in working with trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to which I can provide an evidence-based modular program called Cognitive Processing Therapy; it is designed to reduce symptoms in 12 sessions by providing a structured and safe environment.
I am GLBTQ friendly and definitely feel comfortable working with people from a variety of different cultures and ethnicities.
Call for a 20 minute consultation at no charge and see if what I can provide is right for you.
