Mary Gillis is a registered clinical counsellor who is meeting with her clients virtually/by phone until further notice. When appropriate, she plans to resume meeting with clients one day a week (Thursdays) at her Vancouver office, located at West Broadway, near Yew St., and plans to continue with virtual sessions for the remainder of the week.
Mary brings years of experience to her therapy practice. She works with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, parenting and relationship stress. In addition, Mary has specialized training in reproductive and sexual health: pregnancy loss and termination, death of an infant/young child, fertility issues, postpartum depression/anxiety, and menopause. She is a member in good standing with the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Alliance (PLIDA), and is a former board of director member of Pacific Post Partum Support Society.
Mary creates a safe, confidential and non-judgmental therapeutic environment in which her clients can feel heard and understood. She provides a nurturing and supportive atmosphere in which her clients can explore their life issues and challenges. She draws on clients' strengths, emphasizing resilience and encouragement, while providing practical techniques and coping tools for everyday use.
Mary uses a combination of ACT, CBT, and mindfulness based approaches in order to individualize her work with each client. She provides marital/relationship counselling drawing from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman approach.
Please contact Mary should you wish to know more about her counselling philosophy and expertise.
