Welcome! My name is Liana and I am a strong believer in balance on mental, physical, conscious and unconscious levels. The great Swiss Psychotherapist, Carl Jung said “I must also have a dark side if I am to be whole”, this comes from the acknowledgement of the parts of ourselves that we like, and those parts that we are uncomfortable with.
Most of the time it is easiest to push the darker parts of ourselves aside. We put these parts in a box in the back of our minds, triple padlock it, and voila! We have outsmarted our emotions, we get back to everyday life and forget all about it. Unfortunately these locked away parts of ourselves can grow in potency until the box you put them in explodes. When we ignore these parts of ourselves they can manifest in debilitating anxiety, depression, anger, and unhealthy projection onto our relationships and communities.
When we allow the darker parts of ourselves to surface, we give them room to breathe, they are less potent and can be integrated into our whole selves. In fact, when integrated, these emotions can positively affect our relationships and the way we interact with the world, we experience shifts such as greater self-worth, confidence, clarity, trust, improved communication, and increased creativity.
I believe it is important to work on many levels in therapy, from the conscious, surface level to an unconscious level. If we only work on the surface with thoughts and beliefs, the unconscious content that underlies those thoughts and beliefs does not get addressed and may continue to show up in your life in unhealthy ways. If we focus primarily on the unconscious, you may have a deeper understanding of what is going on for you but may not see immediate effects. I aim to bring the unconscious to awareness while working with concrete tools that you can start using immediately in your day to day life.
Depending on your preferences and needs, I use an integrated approach drawing from depth psychology, CBT, yoga, and mindfulness tools. It is my wish that here you will find the space you need to integrate, heal, grow, and become the person you are meant to be.

My name is Liana Yip and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from Adler University. Currently, I work for the Fraser Health Authority as Counsellor|Educator at Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Services and also in private practice with people of all ages.
I have been drawn to be a counsellor since people started asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up. While I was deeply interested in western models of mental well being, from personal experience I knew that yoga had helped me immensely in my own journey. It had kept me calm, balanced, and as grounded as possible through many difficult times.
Fueled by a passion to understand the mental and physical benefits of yoga, In 2010 I traveled to India to study yoga with Yogi Sividas at the Kailash Tribal School of Yoga and received my yoga teaching certification. When I returned I was drawn to Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, which provides a unique context to explore the depths of the psyche, and completed levels one and two in the program. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with the Yoga Alliance, have taught yoga at numerous locations throughout Vancouver, as well as have provided workshops on yoga and mental health to various health authorities and organizations.
Depending on your personal preference, I offer a unique combination of talk therapy and therapeutic yoga tools.
Whatever your situation may look like, be it stress, anxiety, depression, grief, or a desire for personal growth, it is my passion to be a part of clients' journeys to greater life satisfaction and fulfillment.
