Hello and welcome - I hope that you find this information helpful as you make your decision about seeking counselling. I completed my MA in Counselling Psychology at Simon Fraser University and have more than ten years of counselling experience. I have worked with clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and depression as well as individuals coping with the pressures of everyday life. I also supervise counselling students and am a registered counsellor with the Crime Victim Assistance Program and ICBC.
My approach with clients is warm and empathetic, while remaining goal-oriented and focused on your concerns. I am positive and supportive as clients work towards recognising their own strengths and competencies. I believe that overall wellness is an important aspect of mental and emotional health and use a variety of approaches to help clients discover ways to live more satisfying and enjoyable lives.
Generally, we will discuss your concerns and develop a plan that integrates different therapeutic approaches as needed. In the first session, you can expect the focus to be on what brings you to counselling and on working toward collaborating on some initial goals. As it is common to feel somewhat anxious when seeing a counsellor for the first time or when seeing a counsellor who is new to you - I offer a free 15 minute introductory phone conversation to help you determine if I am the right counsellor for you.
