My name is Kevin and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) who teaches courses in trauma, mental health, and psychology at Native Education College (NEC).
I work from a strength-based approach, helping clients uncover skills they may not know they possessed before collaborating to creatively re-purpose these skills for therapeutic benefit. This is achieved through safety, sensitivity, and a sense of humour.
I completed my graduate training at The University of British Columbia (UBC) in their client-centered, humanistic counselling psychology program.
I have since pursued additional certification in Gestalt therapy, Accelerated-Experiential Psychodynamic therapy (AEDP), and Therapeutic Enactment (TE), a trauma-focused form of group therapy that involves role-play.
Prior to becoming a clinical counsellor, I worked as a behavioural coach at a health & wellness centre in California. And, prior to that, I was a front-line outreach worker on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
