"Life is so perfect, it doesn't always go our way." It's the times when life doesn't go our way, or when habits have controlled our life one too many times, or that relationship is causing more struggle than it's supposed to, that we, hopefully, think about finding skilled help. Environmental failures and life challenges are embedded in living; repeating disabling patterns of actions, thoughts and responses doesn't have to continue to be a part of life.
I bring to each client session a deep appreciation of the human spirit (we want to be whole and integrated), human nature (we want the fastest, easiest way to whole) and physiology (we are built for survival and responses/reactions occur "before we know it"). It makes sense that we become physiologically and mentally attached to ways of thinking and behaving that helped us survive, and often, thrive. The problem occurs when those ways interfere with our life in the present. By listening and seeing your spirit, nature and physiology, asking helpful questions, understanding the present concern and creating a plan, we work together to get you to your desired outcome. As a Certified EMDR therapist I treat many of life's avoidance behaviours (think human spirit, nature and physiology) including procrastination, perfectionism, addictions, that often manifest as depression and anxiety.
I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). I use multiple techniques and theories to support you in achieving your desired outcomes. Though EMDR is a significant technique I also am a Healing Touch Practitioner, an Erikson College Professional Coach, a Gottmann Certified Educator, and Certified Compassionate Bereavement Care (MISS Foundation/Elizabeth Kubler Ross Foundation).
