While developing the skills that stimulate positive change in your life can be hard work, it can be extremely rewarding. My focus is to help you learn these skills and, together, work to move you towards your goals as efficiently as possible. In this journey towards positive change, finding a registered psychologist who is a good fit is an important first step.
I am a registered psychologist licensed for practice in the province of British Columbia with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. In addition to my private practice, I presently also work as a psychologist at the BC Operational Stress Injury Clinic. This is a federally funded specialty clinic serving active and veteran members of the RCMP and the Canadian Forces throughout BC and the Yukon suffering from work-related psychological difficulties (e.g., PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, and chronic pain). At this clinic, we strongly emphasize the importance of providing treatment that is evidence-based (treatments with results that are well-supported by research).
I carry this important philosophy into my private practice. This is a benefit to you because we know, from research, that the types of therapies I use have successfully helped many others with similar types of difficulties. As a result, we can use these therapies with confidence and a good understanding of how you might react to therapy.
For the last several years, I have also taught the undergraduate course on Abnormal Behaviour at the UBC and I am a clinical supervisor for doctoral level clinical psychology students at UBC and for clinicians preparing for registration.
