Dr. McArter has been in private practice since receiving her MA in Counselling Psychology in 1990. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology in 2002. Her research and dissertation focused on the relationship between religion, spirituality and personality.
Gloria is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling Association. She is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and appears on the Canadian Registry. She is a Director of the Alfred Adler Western Canada Society. Dr. Glo has a B.Ed. degree and is an experienced educator, group facilitator and public speaker. She has a Certificate in Management Development and has worked in personnel management.
Gloria brings her many years of varied experience, respect for human dignity, and empathic and trusting manner to the counselling relationship. She is engaged and authentic as a mentor who guides individuals and couples to make effective choices in resolving personal, relationship, family and workplace issues. Dr. Glo also invites exploration about the reality and meaning of the midlife and beyond years that some will approach with anxiety and others with curiosity and joy. Dr. Glo supports those who want to use the experience of their spirituality, within or outside the context of organized religious practice, to bring about positive change.
