Gwen Bevan has been counselling individuals, couples and families for over 25 years. In addition to providing counselling, Gwen provides clinical supervision for private therapists (see below for more information). Gwen has been a consultant for Global TV, Thrive Global, the Globe and Mail and CKNW radio. Gwen has presented at various conferences and workshops and is committed to exploring current research and techniques for healing. She has a Masters in Social Work and is a Registered Social Worker and taught a 3rd year University level Social Work class at NVIT.
Gwen has been providing counselling in a nurturing and supportive environment to assist in the healing from trauma, abuse, grief and loss, anxiety, relationship, adoption, post-abortion and other related issues. She works with her clients to find effective therapeutic methods such as: art work, solution-focused therapy, family therapy, family of origin work, Tapping (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is also a certified yoga instructor and incorporates body work and yoga into her sessions. Gwen practices in a comfortable setting which includes a space to do creative healing and body work.
Clinical Counselling Supervision - Gwen has a passion for providing Clinical Supervision and has been providing Clinical Counselling Supervision since 1994 having a wide variety of experience and training. Gwen was the head of Pacific Spririt Child and Family Counselling Services at UBC, providing clinical support and guidance to Masters Students in various counselling programs at UBC, UVic, Uof C and others. As part of her role as Social Worker at VGH she sat on the Practicum Coordinating Committee to conduct research regarding the needs of practicum supervisors and practicum students. She and her colleague presented these results to the Social Work team and oversaw the applications and placements of new students, providing guidance and trainings to practicum supervisors for numerous years in addition to supervising numerous practicum students in the counselling program of Cardiac Rehab. Gwen also spent 5 years providing Supervision to Masters level counsellors with a variety of educational backgrounds at Oak Counselling Services Society. She was co-creater of a supervision course for Masters of Social Work Program.
